What is the ruling on not spending most of the night in Mina during one of the nights of staying there, for one time only? And is it compensated by a mudd of food? And is it permissible to give a sum of money equivalent to a mudd of food? And must it be given to the poor in Mecca? And what should one who has left Mecca do?

Staying overnight in Mina for most of the night is one of the obligations of Hajj. Whoever neglects it without a valid excuse must offer a Mudd of food. It is permissible to give the value of this in cash as charity to the poor of the Haram (definition). If you are outside Mecca, you can send the money to someone you trust to distribute it on your behalf.
