The question

The answer

The people of Mecca are not required to perform the farewell circumambulation ( al-Wada'), unless they intend to travel after completing the rituals. In that case, the farewell circumambulation becomes obligatory for them before departing from Mecca. Whoever omits the farewell circumambulation must offer a sacrifice (dam) to be slaughtered in Mecca and distributed among its poor.
