If the mother is unable to perform Hajj due to an irremediable inability, such as old age or illness, then it is permissible to delegate someone to perform Hajj on her behalf. What has been said regarding Hajj also applies to ; so, if she is able to perform Umrah but not Hajj, then delegation is permissible for Hajj but not for Umrah. In such a case, she is obligated to perform Umrah when able, according to those who deem Umrah obligatory.
