The question

Is it obligatory to enter into the state of Ihram for Hajj from Al-Ji'ranah or As-Sail Al-Kabeer, or is it permissible to enter into Ihram from Ash-Shara'i' for one coming from the Ash-Shara'i' area after passing the Miqat?

The answer

Whoever passes the with the intention of working and then later wishes to enter into , should do so from their current location. This is based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "And whoever is closer than that, then his Miqat is from where he started, even the people of Makkah from Makkah." However, whoever intended to perform Hajj or when passing the Miqat, must return to it to enter into Ihram. This is based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "These (Miqats) are for them and for those who come upon them from other than their people, intending Hajj or Umrah."
