Is it permissible for a young man to ask a woman to search for a bride for him during Hajj and before Tawaf Al-Ifadah?

If the suitor's request to his mother is merely to search for a bride and inform him of who is suitable, then this is permissible, though it is better to avoid it while in a state of ihram (definition). However, if the request involves informing the girl of his desire to marry her or proposing to her while he is in a state of ihram, then this falls under the prohibited engagement during ihram, due to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "A pilgrim in the state of ihram shall not marry, nor be given in marriage, nor propose for marriage." This is also because it leads to what is unlawful. This is the view of the majority of scholars, and it is also held by Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn 'Uthaymeen.
