Are the husband's paternal and maternal uncles among the wife's mahrams?

The paternal uncles, maternal uncles, and other relatives of the husband are not considered mahram (definition) (unmarriageable kin) to his wife, with the exception of the husband's fathers and sons. This is based on the Almighty's saying: "And let them not expose their adornment except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husbands' fathers, or their sons, or their husbands' sons" (An-Nur 24:31). The Shariah has warned against leniency with the husband's relatives—other than his father and son—regarding khalwa (definition) (private seclusion). In the Two Sahihs, it is narrated from 'Uqbah ibn 'Amir that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Beware of entering upon women." A man from the Ansar asked: "O Messenger of Allah, what about the hamu (husband's kin)?" He replied: "The hamu is death." The hamu refers to a husband's non-mahram relative, such as the husband's brother, nephew, paternal uncle, and his son.
