Is it permissible for young women to participate in reciting Surat Al-Kahf – in an online meeting – in the same circle as young men?
There is no objection to young men and women participating in an online Quran recitation circle if it adheres to the Islamic legal guidelines. This participation is not considered unlawful mixing (ikhtilat) due to its difference from the physical mixing of bodies.
Regarding a girl reciting the Quran in the presence of non- men, there is no objection if it is an ordinary recitation that does not lead to temptation. However, if it is a melodious recitation that involves beautifying and softening the voice, it may lead to temptation, and in that case, it is not permissible.
The preferred and most cautious approach to avoid temptation is for each gender to have its own separate circle.
