Is it reported from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man performs ihram with only his head and face, and a woman with only her face? And is it authentically reported from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) his saying: "There is no ihram for a woman except in her face"?

The scholars have unanimously agreed on prohibiting a male in a state of ihram (definition) from covering his head and ears, based on the hadith (definition) of Ibn 'Umar. As for the woman, her ihram is in her face and hands; and the niqab (face veil) and gloves are disliked for her. However, scholars have made an exception, permitting a woman to draw down her veil over her face if she sees non-mahram (definition) men.
