If it is customary for Muslim women to adorn themselves with a nose piercing, then there is no objection to it, as it can be likened to ear piercing for earrings. However, displaying this adornment to non-mahram (definition) men is a matter of scholarly disagreement, based on the different interpretations of the visible adornment mentioned in the verse: {And let them not display their beauty except what is apparent thereof}. Various interpretations have been reported from Ibn Abbas, Ibn Umar, Ibn Mas'ud, and Abu Huraira regarding this verse.
