The answer

It is permissible to greet a non- woman, maintain kinship ties, visit the sick, and congratulate relatives, provided there is no fear of temptation (fitna). It is forbidden if there is fear of temptation. One must adhere to lowering the gaze and avoiding unlawful seclusion (). Intermingling (ikhtilat) is forbidden if it involves seclusion, lustful gazing, a woman dressing immodestly, or frivolous amusement and physical touching. Therefore, not greeting women for fear of temptation is entirely correct. Furthermore, the general rule regarding young men and women joining co-educational universities is prohibition, unless there are -compliant safeguards. As for shaking hands, its ruling has been previously explained.
