What is the ruling on women washing clothes and dishes in canals, and raising their arms and cloaks under the pretext of necessity, while clean water is available in their homes, and in imitation of what mothers and grandmothers used to do?

Women must fear Allah and adhere to the hijab (definition), not displaying their adornments before non-mahram (definition) men, as Allah commanded in Surah (definition) An-Nur, Ayah 31, and Surah Al-Ahzab, Ayah 53. Thus, it is forbidden for women to go out uncovered, and there is no necessity that calls for it. Protesting by citing the actions of mothers and grandmothers is invalid because it contradicts Islamic law. They must abandon this habit and cling to their religion and modesty, for modesty is the character of Islam.
