The answer

Lying is forbidden unless it becomes necessary to avert a harm that cannot be averted except through it. The alternative to it is tawriyah (equivocation) and tarid (allusion), as was narrated from Umar, may Allah be pleased with him: "Indeed, in allusions, there is room to avoid lying." Lying can also be replaced by saying that it is a deposit with you, for it was narrated from Ibn Masud, may Allah be pleased with him, that he said: "No one among people awakes today but that he is a guest, and his wealth is a borrowed item. The guest departs, and the borrowed item is returned." It is also advised to diligently recite the prescribed adhkar (remembrances) and taawwudhat (supplications for protection).
