Was the decision to reside in university housing a correct outcome of the Istikhara prayer, especially given the current feeling of distress due to the practices of roommates, and is my continued stay with them permissible given the situation as described, and is it permissible to reserve a place for a colleague who is late for the lecture?

Istikhara is a supplication that ensures good and righteousness for the servant. Harming colleagues during sleep violates the kindness enjoined by Islamic law. One should not return evil with evil, but rather with forgiveness, advice, and benevolence. Waking colleagues for prayer is obligatory when one is able to do so and fears that the time will expire. The feeling of distress may have multiple causes, including the behavior of colleagues, study pressures, shortcomings in worship, or the evil eye and envy. It is recommended to seek refuge in Allah and rely on Him, recite the Quran, perform Ruqyah (definition) (Islamic exorcism), and maintain dhikr (remembrance of Allah) and supplication. Reserving a place for a late colleague in a lecture involves usurping shared rights without justification.
