Is it permissible to abort a pregnancy in its first month, given that previous deliveries were by Cesarean section, and in the third delivery, the questioner was asked to undergo tubal ligation to prevent pregnancy due to the danger of repeated Cesarean sections?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
It is permissible to abort a pregnancy before forty days have passed if a trustworthy Muslim doctor determines that its continuation poses a definite danger to the mother. It is also permissible to use contraception in the future. It is not permissible for a woman to expose her awrah to a male doctor unless it is impossible to find a female doctor. However, if the hardship is bearable, abortion is not permissible due to the absence of necessity.
