Is it Islamically permissible to identify the individuals who hexed someone? Can hexing be a reason for him to be deprived of his studies and for his engagement to be broken? Is there a way to know if he has recovered from hexing? Can he return to his studies and his fiancée? Should he cut ties of kinship with those who hexed him? Is not returning their greetings considered abandonment?

Magic is real and has an effect by Allah's will, such as separating spouses. There is nothing to prevent the bewitched person from returning to their normal life after treatment. There is no scientific way for magic to disappear, but the disappearance of its symptoms may indicate healing. It is not permissible to accuse anyone of magic except with clear proof. Abandoning relatives is not permissible, and it is obligatory to return their greetings. If a person fears that they are bewitched, then legal ruqyah (definition) (exorcism) is permissible.
