Does drinking camel urine cure certain diseases, and if so, how does that align with Allah's allowance of good things and His prohibition of bad things?

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded the use of camel milk and urine for specific ailments such as dropsy. Its therapeutic benefits have been scientifically proven, which is considered a scientific miracle within the Sunnah (definition). The ruling on medicine differs from that on food; what is permissible for medicinal purposes may be forbidden as food when there is a choice.

Scholars have differed on the ruling of drinking camel urine when there is no necessity. Those who deemed it pure permitted it, while those who deemed it impure permitted it only out of necessity, citing the Hadith (definition) of the 'Urayniyyin and the principle that Allah has not made our cure in what He has forbidden to us. However, this is understood to apply to situations of choice, whereas in cases of necessity, it is permissible, just as eating carrion is permissible for one who is compelled. Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah held that what is forbidden due to its inherent impurity is more severe than what is forbidden due to extravagance and pride. Therefore, he permitted treatment with this type of substance, citing the Prophet's permission to the 'Urayniyyin to use camel urine and milk for treatment, considering them not among the forbidden, impure khaba'ith (foul things), unlike treatment with alcohol, which is a disease and not a cure.
