What is cupping (hijama) and how is it correctly applied, along with specifying its locations?

The nature and benefits of hijamah (cupping) have been previously explained in prior fatwas. As for its application method and a diagram illustrating its locations, we apologize for not clarifying them, as this falls outside the scope of fatwa (definition) and because the cupper must be knowledgeable and skilled in hijamah. Scholars have stipulated that one who engages in a science or practice without knowing it is overstepping, and is liable if harm results from their action, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Whoever practices medicine without being known to be skilled in it is liable." And hijamah is a type of medicine.
