The answer

Seeking knowledge through visual and auditory means is an act for which the doer is rewarded and attains the reward of seeking knowledge if he is sincere. Although direct reception from scholars is better due to the benefit and acquisition of etiquette it entails, utilizing modern means is permissible and a blessing. Ibn Uthaymeen clarified that those who listen to tapes receive the reward of benefiting and seeking knowledge, and that these means have contributed to spreading knowledge and conveying the sayings of scholars, and they are better than abandoning the pursuit of knowledge. However, he emphasized that the journey of direct seeking of knowledge from scholars is better and more beneficial.
