Is it true that the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to haggle over the price of a commodity until his forehead sweated?

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was the best of people in character and the easiest to deal with in buying and selling. He used to walk in the marketplaces and teach people the etiquette of transactions. Perhaps the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, haggled in purchasing to clarify the rulings of buying and selling, and to safeguard wealth from what souls are naturally inclined towards. There are indeed narrations indicating the Prophet's, peace and blessings be upon him, haggling in buying and selling, such as the Hadith (definition) of Jabir regarding the purchase of the camel, and the Hadith of Suwayd ibn Qays regarding bargaining for trousers. This indicates the permissibility of moderate haggling. As for the statement that he would haggle until his forehead sweated, it has no basis and is inconsistent with his noble character and magnanimity.
