Is it permissible to take out an interest-bearing loan to pay off accumulated debts and organize financial affairs, given insufficient salary and the unavailability of alternative borrowing options to meet basic needs?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
It is not permissible to borrow with interest (riba) to meet needs or manage financial affairs, as it is one of the gravest sins and incurs a curse. It should only be resorted to in cases of dire necessity (refer to : 32983). Whoever fears Allah and trusts in Him, He will provide for them a good provision and suffice them in what concerns them, as Allah Almighty says: "And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out And will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him." (At-: 2-3).
