Is it permissible to rent out property to an ATM service provider in India, knowing that this provider is not a bank?
First: It is not permissible to rent a place for an ATM belonging to an interest-based (usurious) bank, due to the assistance this entails in sin and transgression. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed the one who consumes usury, the one who feeds it, its scribe, and its two witnesses, and he said: "They are all alike."
Second: If the ATM service provider will place an ATM specific to an interest-based bank, it is not permissible to rent the place to him. However, if the ATM is not specific to a particular bank, and there are Islamic banks and interest-based banks in the country, there is no harm in renting the place. But if there are only interest-based banks in the country, it is not permissible to rent to him, because these ATMs facilitate and encourage dealing with and opening accounts in interest-based banks.
