Is it obligatory for a woman to interrupt her prayer and step back behind her husband if he stands next to her during prayer?

"It is prescribed for a woman in congregational prayer to stand behind the man. The majority of scholars dislike her standing beside him, and according to Abu Hanifa, the man's prayer is invalidated if she stands alongside him. Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah mentioned that it is sunnah (definition) for a woman to stand behind the rows of men, and it is disliked for her to stand in the men's row. As for whether the prayer of the one next to her is invalidated, there are two opinions: it is invalidated, which is the view of Abu Hanifa and preferred by some Hanbalis, and it is not invalidated, which is the view of Malik and Al-Shafi'i.

However, if the woman does not join the man in prayer, or if the man prays beside her an independent prayer, then the prayer of each of them is valid according to the four Imams. Therefore, the general rule is that the wife should pray behind her husband to avoid disagreement. But if she prays beside him, her prayer is valid according to the most preponderant opinion. If each of them is praying an independent prayer next to the other, their prayers are valid, and they are not required to change their position."
