- One does not catch the congregational prayer unless they catch one complete rak'ah with the Imam.
- If you enter the mosque and find the Imam in the final , and you predominantly believe you will catch another congregation, it is better not to join the Imam and instead proceed to the other mosque.
- If you do not predominantly believe you will catch another congregation, then join the Imam, and whatever you catch with him is good.
- If you join the Imam at the end of his prayer, and then wish to change your intention from obligatory to supererogatory to catch another congregation, there is no harm in doing so.
