What is the ruling on a man praying with his family members in his home – whether a fard (obligatory) prayer or a sunnah (supererogatory) prayer, especially Tarawih and Qiyam (night prayers) – when the mosque is near, with the intention of encouraging them to pray?

A man is not permitted to miss congregational prayer in the mosque except for a legitimate Shar’i (Islamic legal) excuse. As for the Sunnah (definition) prayers, like Taraweeh, the matter is flexible. The general principle is that performing them at home is better. A man’s praying Taraweeh at home is better if his intention is to encourage his family to perform it and to help them revive the Sunnah.
