Is it permissible to attend a ceremony honoring outstanding students in a Quran memorization course, held in the mosque's basement with chanting and tambourine playing, knowing that this basement is not opened for the five daily prayers but only for Friday prayer, and is this basement considered an annex of the mosque?

The basement endowed for the mosque is considered part of it and has its rulings, and it must be protected from singing and drum-playing within it. Scholars have differed regarding the ruling on chanting and playing the drum in the mosque. Some permitted it, citing certain hadiths, while others prohibited it, considering it an innovation and a disrespect to the houses of Allah. It is more prudent not to attend such types of gatherings, but there is no harm in adopting the view of those who permit it, especially if there is a benefit, such as encouraging children to memorize the Quran.
