Is it permissible to stop fulfilling a vow to pray two rak'ahs daily for life, which hinders the performance of Sunnah and supererogatory prayers, and is expiation required for that?
A Muslim should not obligate themselves to something that Allah has not obligated them to, and this includes repeated vows (nazr mukarrar), which some scholars disliked due to the difficulty of adhering to them. The repeated vow must be fulfilled once it occurs, and it takes precedence over prayers and supererogatory acts because it is an obligation. Whoever fails to fulfill a vow at its specified time without an excuse commits a sin and must make it up (qada'). Whoever misses it with an excuse does not sin but must also make it up (qada'). If fulfilling the vow becomes impossible and you are completely unable to do so, then you must offer an expiation for breaking an oath (kaffarat ).
