The answer

Qunut is supplication, obedience, and prolonged standing in prayer. The best supplication is that narrated by Al- ibn Ali: "O Allah, guide me among those whom You have guided..." It is a in the Witr prayer after bowing (rukūʿ), and it is permissible before it. The imams differed regarding its legitimacy in the Fajr prayer: Ahmad and Abu Hanifah hold that it is not a Sunnah, while Malik and Al-Shafi'i hold that it is a Sunnah. This difference of opinion is valid, and no one should be criticized for holding a different view.
