It is disliked by the jurists to place the elbows on the ground during prostration, due to the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Be moderate in prostration, and let none of you spread his forearms as a dog spreads them." The is for the worshipper to keep his elbows away from his sides and raise them off the ground.
