When is it sufficient to say: "To You Alone, our Lord, be all praise," and is it a condition that it be said between two pillars, such as during the bowing (rukūʿ) and standing (iʿtidāl), or is it sufficient if said during prostration (sujūd)?
The transitional takbirat (saying "Allahu Akbar"), saying "Sami'a Allahu liman hamidah" (Allah hears the one who praises Him), and "Rabbana wa lakal-hamd" (Our Lord, and to You be all praise) are according to the majority of scholars, but the Hanbalis consider them obligatory.
The place for the transitional takbirat is during the movement itself, not before it or after it. The Hanbalis invalidate the prayer of one who intentionally pronounces the takbir before descending or after settling in position.
The Tahmid (saying "Sami'a Allahu liman hamidah" and "Rabbana wa lakal-hamd") is obligatory according to the Hanbalis for the Imam, the one praying alone, and the follower. The Imam and the one praying alone say it while standing after rising from ruku'. The follower only says "Rabbana wa lakal-hamd" during the transition.
