It is forbidden for someone present at the Friday sermon to write during the sermon, because it distracts from listening to the sermon and paying attention to it, and it distracts people from the sermon by making them turn towards the writer. Furthermore, recording devices are now available and can be used to record the sermon and summarize it later. Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen was asked about summarizing the sermon and he replied that this action is not correct.
