The answer

The scholars have not stipulated remaining in the mosque for those who arrive early. It appears that the intention is to fill the time with staying and worshipping. This virtue is not attained by someone who arrives early, then returns home, and then comes back late. Rather, one who comes after him is better. And even though Allah does not waste the reward of the doers of good, such a person is not like one who arrived early and remained until the Imam ascended the pulpit.
