Is taking a staff permissible?

There is no religious impediment to taking a stick; it is among the ordinary matters and not a Sunnah, unless it is for the Imam during the sermon, in which case some scholars have deemed it desirable to lean on it, based on what Abu Dawud narrated, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, delivered the Friday sermon leaning on a bow or a staff.
