A summary of the scholars' opinions on prioritizing missed prayers over present ones: It is obligatory according to the Hanafis and Hanbalis, and obligatory according to the Malikis if the missed prayers are few (five or six). It is recommended according to the Shafi'is. The prayer of one who prioritizes the present prayer is valid, except according to the Malikis in the case of prayers with shared time, such as Asr with Dhuhr and Isha with Maghrib, where prioritizing is not sufficient for these two.
