Is it obligatory to make up prayers missed due to an irregular menstrual cycle and ignorance of the difference between menses (hayd) and irregular bleeding (istihadah), and is there a sin incurred by performing 'Umrah and praying in the aforementioned mosques (the Prophet's Mosque and Quba Mosque) while bleeding continues?

If a woman experiences continuous bleeding, it is considered istihadah (definition) (non-menstrual vaginal bleeding). The duration of her menses is determined by her usual habit, or by discernible characteristics (tamyiz), or by an estimation of six or seven days. After the expiry of this period, she should perform ghusl (definition) (ritual bath) and pray, performing wudu (ablution) for each prayer after its time has begun and taking precautions (to prevent discharge). 'Umrah (definition) performed during istihadah is valid, but if performed during menstruation, it is not valid according to the majority of scholars. A woman who performed tawaf (definition) while menstruating must repent and seek forgiveness.
