The answer

The majority of jurists hold that combining the Isha’ (night) prayer with the Maghrib (sunset) prayer is not valid for someone who did not intend to combine them until after concluding the Maghrib prayer with the (salutation) and finishing its adhkar (remembrances). The Shafi'is, Hanbalis, and Malikis all stipulate that the intention to combine must be present before the Taslim of the first prayer, or at least during a part of it. As for the Hanafis, they do not permit combining the two prayers for any excuse whatsoever. Based on this, whoever has done so must repeat the Isha’ prayer.
