Is there a Sunnah prayer after the Asr prayer, and what is the evidence for that?

There is no prayer after the Asr prayer due to the Prophetic prohibition of praying after it until sunset. The Prophet's performance of this prayer was to make up for the missed regular Sunnah prayer of Dhuhr, and his saying takes precedence over his action when there is a contradiction.
