The answer

Laziness in performing prayer and delaying it beyond its time is among the major sins. Whoever delays a prayer beyond its time must repent and make up the missed prayers, and this is the view of the majority of scholars. If a prayer is missed due to sleep, and it was not intentional, it must be made up without any disagreement. One must not sleep before performing the prayer if its time has begun and he knows that he will not wake up until after its time has passed. Remembering the greatness of Allah and death helps one avoid negligence in worship.
