Is the Imam rewarded more than the worshippers for the prayer, and does he bear their mistakes?

First: The imamate in prayer is a legitimate authority with virtue, which was undertaken by the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and the Rightly Guided Caliphs. The one who leads the people in prayer is the one among them who is most knowledgeable of the Book of Allah. If they are equal in that, then the one who is most knowledgeable of the Sunnah (definition). If they are equal in that, then the one who migrated earliest. If they are equal in that, then the one who embraced Islam earliest. If those who are contentious are equal in virtue, they should draw lots. The Imam receives the virtue of congregational prayer in addition to undertaking the legitimate authority. However, specifying a particular virtue or preferring the Imam over some of the congregants is an unseen matter that one should not dare to delve into.

Second: The Imam does not bear the individual mistakes of the congregants, such as neglecting recitation, glorifications, or fidgeting during prayer, based on the verse: (And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another). Rather, he bears for them the audible recitation in audible prayers, the recitation of a short surah (definition), and the recitation of Al-Fatiha for those who join late, and he makes up for their forgetfulness.
