What is the ruling on frequent forgetfulness in prayer, and is the prostration of forgetfulness (sujood as-sahw) obligatory with repeated forgetfulness, and is my prayer accepted?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
The prostration of forgetfulness ( al-sahw) does not compensate for omitting a complete rak'ah (unit of prayer), the final (recitation), bowing (ruku'), or prostration (sujud). Rather, one must perform what was omitted, and then prostrate for forgetfulness.
