Is it permissible to use Harmal (Peganum harmala) herb with alum, and recite some chapters and verses of the Qur’an over them seven times, then burn them for seven days after Asr prayer, for the purpose of facilitating marriage, knowing that this prescription is from a شيخ (sheikh) and he was not physically visited?

One should strive to adopt permissible means for marriage, such as righteousness and piety, and for a woman to seek her guardians' help in finding a righteous husband. If marriage is delayed, then patience, contentment, and submission are characteristics of the pious. Supplication is the weapon of the believer. As for herbal or Quranic remedies to facilitate marriage, they are impermissible and may lead to minor shirk (definition), which is to consider something a cause when it is not.
