What is the ruling regarding the mosque committee abandoning its duty after one of the worshippers accused the muezzin of hindering the path of Allah by closing the mosque after the morning prayer, citing the verse: "And who is more unjust than one who prevents the mosques of Allah from being remembered therein and strives for their destruction?"

It is permissible to close the mosque outside prayer times to preserve its contents or for maintenance, provided there is a fear of loss and no need for it to be open. However, if there is no fear of harm from keeping it open, and opening it provides ease for people, then the Sunnah (definition) is to keep it open. As for closing the mosque after Fajr prayer, it should be after sunrise to allow worshippers to remain in it, in emulation of the Sunnah. If someone requests that the mosque remain open after Fajr for this purpose, it is their right, and their request should be granted. However, if they demand that it remain open indefinitely, then they are mistaken.
