The question

What is the ruling on intermittent madhy discharge after waking up, which takes an hour to stop, and how can a person pray Fajr and Qiyam al-Layl (night vigil prayer) with this condition? Is it obligatory for him to wake up an hour before Fajr, or should he pray in his current state?

The answer

1. Waking up an hour before Fajr is not obligatory, as a sleeping person is not held accountable. They are required to make up the prayer after waking up by a new command.

2. If the (pre-seminal fluid) ceases after an hour, you are not subject to the ruling of one with chronic discharge. You must wait for it to stop, unless you fear the prayer time will expire, in which case you should pray in your current state. The time for the Fajr prayer ends at the appearance of the sun's upper limb.

3. Avoid waswasah (obsessive whispering). If you are certain that madhy exited during prayer, the prayer is invalidated, and you must repeat your ablution and prayer, even if it is outside its prescribed time. You must also make up any invalidated prayers that you did not repeat.

4. Maintain the of Fajr, as abandoning it out of fear of madhy might be waswasah. However, there is no sin in abandoning it.

5. If you intended to perform al-Layl (night vigil prayer) but were unable, you will hopefully be rewarded for your intention.
