Whoever intends to reside in a place for four days or more becomes a resident (muqim) and not a traveler (musafir), and must complete the prayer. If he then travels from this place a distance of approximately 83 km, a permissible journey, he is allowed to avail himself of the concessions of travel. If he reaches another place and intends to reside there for four days or more, he becomes a resident, and it is obligatory for him to complete the prayer.
