Is it permissible to place an interdiction on a father who mismanages money, uses inappropriate language, buys unnecessary things, neglects prayer, and watches forbidden channels, knowing that he suffers from diabetes and depression and is subjected to theft and deception in the markets?
It is recommended to be patient with one's father and to treat him with kindness, for showing him filial piety in his old age is one of the greatest acts of obedience, and disobeying him is one of the most destructive major sins. Allah Almighty says: "And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And to parents, do good. If one of them or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [even] 'uff,' and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word. And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, 'My Lord, have mercy upon them as they nurtured me when I was small.'" It is not permissible to place him under interdiction except through a court.
