Is it Sunnah to stand while making du'a?

Standing or sitting for supplication (dua) is not prescribed in itself, but rather occurs coincidentally, or depends on the place of the supplication, as in prayer (such as the opening supplication and after rising from bowing), or in the tashahhud (definition), or standing on Safa and Marwa and performing sa'i between them, or the supplication after stoning the first and second jamarat (definition) during the days of Mina. These postures are religiously intended, not that standing or sitting for supplication is a general etiquette for all supplication. The Almighty's saying: "And stand before Allah, devoutly obedient" and "Is one who is devoutly obedient during the hours of the night, prostrating and standing" refer to standing in prayer.
