The question

What is the ruling on taking copies of the Qur’an (masaḥif) and booklets from a musalla (prayer room) in another country, and is it permissible to place them in a mosque in the questioner’s country, and to give a translated copy of the Qur’an to a da‘wah (proselytizing) organization?

The answer

We have not come across any statements from scholars regarding the ruling on returning Qur'ans and books to another mosque or an Islamic dawah center. What appears to us is that it is permissible to do so as long as you are unable to reach the mosque from which you took the books, or if reaching it would entail hardship and difficulty. We hope that your conscience will be cleared by doing so.
