The answer

If the husband cries out for help to be rescued, or to avert harm, or to remove danger, the wife must interrupt her prayer (whether obligatory or supererogatory) and assist him. This is because the harm of interrupting the prayer is less severe than the loss of life or falling into perdition. This obligation applies to anyone who hears someone crying out for help while facing perdition. However, if he calls her for a non-urgent need:

1. During an obligatory prayer: It is forbidden for her to interrupt it. 2. During a supererogatory prayer: It is permissible for her to interrupt it to answer her husband, especially if the husband is unforgiving and pitiless. This is by analogy with the permissibility of interrupting a supererogatory prayer for a need, and based on the view of some jurists who permit interrupting a supererogatory prayer for the husband's right, because it is an obligation and thus takes precedence over the supererogatory prayer.
