The answer

The prayer is valid for someone who hesitated to discontinue it because he thought he was not in a state of ablution. However, according to the view that the prayer of one who hesitates to discontinue it is invalidated, then it becomes void by that hesitation, whether the hesitation was due to thinking it was invalid or for another reason. This is because hesitation contradicts the firm intention, which is a condition for the validity of prayer. Hesitation in continuing the prayer immediately invalidates it due to its contradiction with the firm intention, which is required to be continuous.
