White or transparent discharges (vaginal moisture) are pure but invalidate ablution, while yellow discharges are impure and invalidate ablution. Yellow discharges are considered menses if they occur during the habitual period or are continuous with blood. Any blood a woman sees within a fifteen-day period is considered menses. If the blood exceeds this period, the woman is considered to have Istihada (non-menstrual bleeding), and she must refer to her previous habit, perform ghusl (definition) thereafter, and consider the excess as Istihada.
