The maximum duration of menstruation, according to the majority of jurists, is fifteen days, and the minimum is one day and one night. Yellowish or brownish discharges that are continuous with the days of bleeding are considered menstruation. It is not permissible to perform ghusl (definition) (ritual bath) until the bleeding or colored discharges completely stop, or the white discharge appears, or the total days of menstruation exceed fifteen days. However, if a woman sees the white discharge and then sees brownish or yellowish discharge afterward, it is not considered menstruation unless it occurs during her regular period.
